Blue Jays sign 1st round pick, RHP Chad Jenkins

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.(AP) -- The Toronto Blue Jays have signed 2009
first-round draft pick Chad Jenkins.

The team made the announcement before Saturday's game against
Tampa Bay. The 21-year-old right-hander, taken 20th overall, was
8-1 with a 2.54 ERA for Kennesaw State University this season
and was named the Atlantic Sun Conference's pitcher of the year.

Toronto continues negotiating with supplemental first-round pick
James Paxton, and second-round selection Jake Eliopoulos.

The Blue Jays have signed 30 of the 51 players they selected in
June's amateur draft.
