Dodgers RHP Kuroda likely headed for DL

LOS ANGELES(AP) -- Dodgers right-hander Hiroki Kuroda probably
will be placed on Los Angeles' disabled list while he recovers
from a concussion, manager Joe Torre said Tuesday.

Kuroda, who was hit in the head by a line drive in Arizona last
weekend, had another CT scan and additional tests Tuesday while
visiting Dr. Vernon Williams, a Los Angeles neurologist
specializing in concussions.

The Japanese pitcher felt about the same as he did Monday, when
Dodgers trainer Stan Conte reported Kuroda still had mild
headaches. Conte again sent Kuroda home from Dodger Stadium
early to rest, also advising him to turn off his phone to limit
the numerous calls from concerned family and friends in Japan.

"This is really going to be a day-to-day thing," Conte said.
"This can clear up overnight, or it could linger. We're just
going to have to wait day to day."

Torre said Kuroda is a likely candidate for the disabled list,
but doesn't know when the move might happen. The Dodgers
initially hoped Kuroda might be able to pitch late in their
seven-game homestand.

"It's becoming more apparent," Torre said. "We haven't
officially decided that."

Right-hander Jeff Weaver will take Kuroda's turn in the rotation
Thursday in the series opener against the Chicago Cubs. Weaver
has started six games this season in spot duty out of the
bullpen, and Torre likes his history of success against the
Cubs' right-handed power hitters.

Knuckleballer Charlie Haeger also is likely to get another start
for the Dodgers after pitching seven strong innings against St.
Louis in his season debut on Monday night, Torre said.
